A Poem For DMX And The Global Hip-Hop Community

Dearest brother, grimy ghetto
grammar professional with
an exceptional way of emceeing,
we will be missing you, we will
be remembering you forever.

The Ancestors have called you
back home — home to the cosmos
of everlasting energy which keeps
the balance of the universe in
order.

Your raspy, velvety voice was
choice over the dopest of beats
and club bangers. That thump
thump jeap beat sound under
your underground vocabulary
will forever be legendary.

We hear you barking from the
ethos with electricity, high
impact energy. We bark with
you lost soldier, representative
of gutter harmonies only found
in New York City boroughs.

A Black-Preacher-Poet man
who slammed mics down with
lyrical authority — is what your
tombstone should read as we take
heed to another life lost too soon.

I eulogize with words ever so
clear — because this has been
a hurtful year of loss, of tears,
of blues songs, and pain. Your
pain is gone now. You are off
into the soft of the galaxy.

May peace welcome you into
realms where only hip-hop gods
can travel to. Hip-hop globally
will always remember you.
