While the presidential candidates have been set for this year’s presidential race in the United States, the face of Kamala Harris, a Black woman, has dumbfounded a lot of white people. Not only has it dumbfounded Trump supporters but it is bringing out the worst in them.

We remember what many people thought about a looming Obama presidency. We remember the name-calling, the belief they held about the former president not being from this country. They were holding onto what a Public Enemy rap album stated decades back: The Fear Of A Black Planet. Those same notions, the name-calling, and the fear are back.

All of a sudden, when a Black person runs for president, the planet will turn Black.

We should not at all be surprised. Many white women and men are still living in the Stone Age when it comes to race, ethnicity, and sex. They will not remove themselves when it comes to the dated political theories they possess.

The power of Black women has everything to do with why she is running for president. She knows who she is. She knows whose shoulders she stood on to get where she is. She knows it takes a strong person to get to where she has gotten thus far. Also, many white women and men know the power of Black women — and are afraid of their power.

Donald Trump is facing a candidate he is not prepared for. His team will try as hard as they can to demean her, they will be as cruel to her as they possibly can, but it will not work. Black women in the United States, and beyond, have been treated the worst. If Black women have made it this far experiencing many hardships and dehumanization, what makes them think they can stop Black women now?

Kamala Harris is an Alpha Kappa Alpha. She belongs to one of the most organized and powerful sororities in the country. These women will out-organize the Trump presidential campaign by themselves. She has the entire Divine 9 on her side. All of the Black sororities and fraternities will show this country, the world, what organizing looks like and how they show up and show out for one of their own.

Besides all of the Black women who are willing to help or organize for Kamala Harris, she also has white and Latina women who are willing to do the same. This is a lot of woman power. This is a force Donald Trump will wish he did not have to face. Young women deserve to witness what their sisters, mothers, aunts, or grandmothers will do to help Kamala Harris get elected as the first Black female president.

I was raised by mother. After she went back to work, my two sisters made sure my twin brother and I were taken care of. These three Black women provided my twin and I with everything we needed in order to become the men we are today. We know first-hand the power of Black women. We have watched them sacrifice, smile, and stay focused. This is exactly what Kamala Harris is doing.

Her strength will shine through the upcoming presidential campaign. Her women counterparts who are starving for a better world will be strong for her. All of the men who love and support these women will be strong for these women. We know how high the stakes are. We know what real freedom looks like. We know how dangerous it is for a man like Donald Trump to be in office.

Come election day, we all will be proud we helped Kamala Harris become president. The future of women in this country concerning their safety and their freedoms is depending on it. Kamala Harris will stay strong throughout the process. At least we have her strength to look forward to as we face another effort by a fascist former president to become president again.
