jazz
is
dead

john coltrane
ain’t here no more
speaking spiritually
through his saxophone

jazz
is
dead

miles davis
ain’t here no more
melodically, monumentally
mesmerizing many, many

jazz
is
dead

bird
ain’t with us no more
after he passed, he spread
his wings, and soared, soared

jazz
is
dead

mccoy tyner
ain’t with us no more
no more grammy hits from him
so, we let his records spin, spin

jazz
is
dead

no more benny goodman
the swing king is gone, gone
so jazz stations will play his music
on and on, and on and on

jazz
is
dead

sarah, ella, and billie
are now angels in the skies
they are majestic, cosmic butterflies
who used truth and soul without lies

jazz
is
dead

jazz
is
dead

jazz
is
dead

jazz has died.
